Hollister United 4 – Alpine Grizzlies 0
Hollister United capped the Spring Season off with a Win against the Alpine Menlo Grizzlies. The girls played hard during the first half. The ball moved back and forth across the field with shots on goal by both teams. The game was very physical with both teams trying to show who was tougher. Jahkya as goal keeper did a tremendous job keeping the opponent’s shots out of the goal.
At half time coach Ted fired up the girls stating he wanted four goals out of them in the next half and stating he wouldn’t settle for less. Fired up by coach, the girls came out with a roar. They fought with the Grizzlies, finally finding success with Deanna kicking in the first score of the game. The girls knew they still had to stay strong. The momentum began to change in United’s favor and the girls took advantage. Alex then came in for the second score of the game. The Grizzlies fought hard to not be shut out, but the girls played the clock and ate away at the game. Despite their best efforts, United had pinned down the bear. Deanna came in for her second score of the game. United kept fighting hard and attacking the goal. The ball was sent towards the opposing team’s net yet again, girl after girl put pressure on the goal. Austin was in perfect placement for a rebounded ball and was able to put in her first goal for United. Kylie also gave the a shutout half as goalie.
The girls stepped up to the plate for coach Ted and gave him his Grand Slam. It was an exciting way to finish off the season, and hopefully is a precursor of seasons to come. Go United!
