Fremont - The Hollister United U10 girls soccer team's transition from a division two to a division one team in Class three ball is coming along quite nicely.

The team was in Fremont last weekend for the Mission Peak Soccer Jamboree, where it squared off against some of the toughest competition it will face all season long.

Despite the high level of competition, the Hollister squad managed to post a 1-1-2 record against the Class one teams.

The teams that United played were the Newark Rush, Santa Clara Sporting, Sunnyvale Roadrunners and the Diablo Valley Dynamite.

United's win came against the Newark Rush, by way of a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

In that game, United jumped out to an early lead thanks to a quick goal from Brianna, a score that came before the contest was five minutes old.

The Rush tied the first half and, at the break the two squads found themselves knotted up at one apiece.

That's how things remained until late in the game, when United got a score by Alex from 20-yards out, to put the contest away with less than 10 minutes remaining before the final whistle.

Goalkeeper Kylie had a great game in the net for Hollister United against the Rush, stopping nearly 10 shots to keep her team on top.

Also having a great tournament weekend for Hollister was sweeper Alexandra, whom coach Aaron says made a big contribution to the team's overall success in Fremont with her tenacious play on defense.

"It's going to be a great season for us," Aaron said. "We're moving up a division but I think we're going to be toe-to-toe with anyone."
