doesn’t get much better than this, as a parent coming out to watch your
child play "Football"! This beats kicking it at home sitting on the
coach and watching sports highlights on the tube. It was a gorgeous day
to watch the young ladies play soccer and see how much these two teams
have grown in just over a month since they last played each other. This
has been my greatest reward as a soccer parent. The teams were set to play four 10 minute quarters and each one was filled to the brim with excitement. United started off slowly and the Roadrunners blasted out of the gate controlling the ball well. It took United a few minutes to turn over their engines, but once that motor kicked in and revved up, United was able to control the ball. The first quarter would go down scoreless for both sides and that was in large part to the Roadrunners goal keeper Tara, who took shot after shot and blocked each one with skill that I have not seen in this age group before. Tara was even able to fend off the rocket kicks from Deanna. During the second quarter both Allee and Brianna were able to score to put United on the board. The Roadrunners were able to put on the pressure and Madison from the Roadrunners was able to make a goal for their team. And somewhere along the line your beloved writer lost track of a quarter... I know an unforgivable act, but my one excuse in my defense was…. It was a very exciting game!!! In the last quarter, with a beautiful indirect kick, Alex was able to put the ball just under the goal upright for the final score of the game. After the Game I spoke with both Coach Ted form the Roadrunners and Coach Adolfo from United and they both echoed the same sediment that it was an overall a great game. The Roadrunners have definitely raised the bar a notch and had made a great challenge to United to stay one step ahead. Again great game to both teams!!!
